Statistics

Background

Statistics is the study of the collection, analysis, interpretation, organization and presentation of data. Statistics has always been an important part of biological research and development and in recent years, the ever increasing size and complexity of datasets has resulted in the development of new techniques for statistical analysis.

Statistics deals with all aspects of data, including the planning of data collection and project design, applying mathematical and statistical formulas to determine and model the factors that impact the results, validating these results, and interpreting the outcome within its biological context. The correct statistical project setup and data-analysis are critical for any successful research project and are ever increasingly subject of regulatory guidelines and control.

Our Approach

Our consultants are highly trained mathematicians who effectively bridge the gap between biology and statistics. We provide end-to- end support with challenges in experimental design, mathematic modelling, signal-to- noise enhancement and independent data cross validation by leveraging our expertise in molecular biology and computational statistics. Our expertise is relevant in a wide range of domains including ecology, quality control, animal and plant (marker assisted) breeding, health research, population dynamics, microbiomics and many more.

The BISC Global consultants combine great expertise in biostatistics with excellent communication and project management skills. In addition, during each project our consultants can rely upon the support of the entire BISC Global team and receive coaching from industry or academic experts. Our consultants work with our customers at their offices, which ensures a close collaboration and easier communication. Regular follow-up meetings between the customer, the consultant and the BISC Global managers and experts ensures total customer satisfaction.
