Lucas obtained his master’s degree in Bioinformatics – Systems Biology at the Gent University (Belgium). In his research, he built an artificial neural network from scratch using PyTorch and applied it in the classification of DNA sequences.

At BISC Global, Lucas has been involved in projects regarding single-cell sequencing, analysis of preclinical data and the improvement of data representation.

“My favourite aspect of data science and bioinformatics is data visualization. I enjoy problem-solving and fixing bugs, too, it is very satisfying!”

Lucas fulfils his passion for visualization not only at work – in his free time, he is also training to become a 3D artist.
